HARDY PERENNIAL. Ht 15-30cm.
This plant (widespread across Europe, North Africa, and Asia) produces beautiful, sweet scented yellow flowers from midsummer into autumn. It is a low scrambling, carpeting perennial that can be found in wildflower meadows and hedgerows.
As the name suggests, Lady’s bedstraw was used to stuff mattresses and pillows to give them a pleasant scent.
The flowers retain their scent when dried and were used to make a yellow dye that was added to butter and cheese.
Also good for ground cover.
Plant in almost any type of soil in full sun/part shade.
