This plant produces edible clear blue flowers from mid-summer to mid-autumn. It is a good choice for a mixed border or back of border planting scheme.
 The leaves are slightly bitter and similar to lettuce leaves. They can be picked and used in mixed salads all year round. The roots can also be eaten like a vegetable and when dried, chopped and roasted, make a good substitute for coffee.
Easy to grow when fully established and has a tendency of self-seeding.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.
