This plant produces tiny white flowers in summer that form into long seedpods.
Once fully formed it is this part of the plant which is referred to as aniseed and is used to flavour liquorice and medicines.
Use the leaves fresh in salads, soups and the seeds for flavouring cookies, bread, pastries and confections. Plant in any garden soil that is kept moist in full sun/part shade.
