HARDY PERENNIAL. Ht 30cm.

Also known as wood avens, colewort and St Benedict’s herb. This plant is usually found in woodlands and shady areas. It produces small bright yellow flowers between May and August. The leaves can be added to salads, stews or deep fried where they puff up like prawn crackers. The root (after it has dried) has a strong taste of cloves.
Plant in fertile soil in full or dappled shade.
