TENDER ANNUAL. Ht 35cm.
This variety originates from the Naples region of Italy.
It has strong, thick stems and very large, crinkled, highly-scented leaves. The leaves are particularly good in pasta sauce and the best variety for pesto. The large leaves can be used to line pasta sheets within a lasagne or torn and added to tomato based sauces and bolognese.
It is slightly less peppery than sweet basil and has very mild undertones of liquorice.
Plant somewhere sheltered from the wind in rich, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.
This plant grows particularly well on windowsills and is ideal for pots and containers.
