Also known as sacred basil or tulsi. This plant originates from Thailand, where it is grown around Buddhist temples. It has a very pungent rich aroma and is traditionally used in Thai cooking, such as stir-fries or chicken, pork and beef dishes. The Indian-related form is considered holy by the Hindus and sacred to the gods. It is used in many religious ceremonies.
