Balm of Gelead (Cedronella canariensis)
TENDER PERENNIAL. Ht 80cm.
Originating from the Canary Islands this plant is highly aromatic and can be quite effective as an insect repellent. In summer it produces pink, two lipped flowers that appear over a long period. The leaves can be infused for tea or added to pot-pourri.
The dried leaves can also be added to mixed herbs and used as a seasoning.
Plant in well-drained soil in full sun and keep well-watered in summer.
