Also known as Japanese leek. It multiplies in clumps and can be divided every three years. It makes a good substitute for spring onions and can be used instead of chives. The leaves will grow back after cutting. Add the chopped leaves as a garnish to flavour omelettes, scrambled eggs, salads, soups, soft cheeses, sour cream and grilled meats. Plant in fertile, rich soil in full sun/part shade.
